Reflection

I really enjoyed working on this project. I was a little nervous at first because I wasn't really sure what I was doing. After playing with different tabs and buttons, I figured it out and realized it was more friendly to use that what I had originally thought. I think this would be an ideal project for students in middle school. Of course, this would have to be explained thoroughly and presented using several examples. This type of project would give students the opportunity to be creative both in their writing and in creating their pictures. I want to teach math at the middle school level. This project would be a great way to integrate Mathematics and English. By having students write about a certain concept in Mathematics, they would have to have a good understanding of the concept. Also, this assignment would reach various types of learning styles. Students that are auditory learners will be able to hear themselves after creating the voicethread. Students could also be required to view at least three other students voicethreads and provide comments. Visual learners would absolutely love doing this project. I know when I uploaded a couple of my pictures, the boarders had changed colors and the arrangement of the text and pictures had changed, as well. I believe the visual learner would love the challenge of creating the pictures and arranging the text to look appealing to the eye. Although this assignment does not directly appeal to the Kinesthetic learner, it is different than simply taking notes during class time. Sometimes just changing the structure of the way material is presented can appeal to a child who may normally not like doing a particular subject, such as English. This would also be a great idea to use if your class has been reading a small chapter book together and the students and teacher may take turns reading it out loud every other day. If the teacher happened to be out of class one day, the assistant could bring up the voicethread for whatever book they happen to be reading and the students could actually listen to their teacher read a chapter from book. The teacher would have to plan in advance to have their voice record, as well as, having instructions for the substitute on how to open the voicethread. There could actually be a student in charge on the technology in the classroom (on a normal basis) and they could be in charge of opening/setting up the voicethread. This would keep students in the same routine and hopefully they will be able to focus better by simply being able to hear their teacher's voice. By having the pictures available, it would also help students visualize what is going on throughout the book. Some students need to hear it and see it to fully understand it. I want students to be able to present projects in from of the class, this project could also be used as a tool for the very first project that you make your students present. Instead of actually presenting it, they could record what they plan to say and have pictures/text of their presentation. Some students have naturally soft voices and some students have naturally loud voices; this would actually give those students practice hearing their own voice and making adjustments when they speak in the future.
